Chi Kung Workshops UK & Italy 2010-2011Program for London Workshop 06 - 07 Nov 2010

Metal - represents the condensing energy of nature and the season of autumn. Its manifestation in the body is in the lungs and large intestine. Their overall function is the exchange of chi, drawing in chi from the air through the breath and eliminating what is unnecessary to the body's requirements. Strong metal element leads to positive, open and bright energy. Workshop 08 - 09 Jan 2011
Water - represents the state of rest in nature like the winter season when everything reaches its maximal decline. Water is potential to change and its association with the kidneys and bladder organs will be explored. When water is healthy it can effect the whole of the yin and yang forces in the body and bring about deep vitality and a sense of knowing who you are and how you want to manifest your life. Workshop 05 - 06 March 2011
Wood - represents the power of growth in nature like the spring season. Wood's nature is to create free flow and is responsible for smooth movement and regularity of body activities and emotions. Wood's principle organ in the body is the liver which moves chi and blood through the whole body. Workshop 21 - 22 May 2011
Fire - represents the season of summer and the phenomenon of heat. In the body its heat is conveyed through the blood and the power of the heart. It's movements are graceful and expansive. When it is fully expressed you can experience joy, calm and emotional stability. A variety of fire forms will be explored that allow fire to safely manifest.
Earth - represents the centre and neutrality. It is like a buffer between all the other elements. It manifests in the year as the transformation between each season. Earth forms will therefore be present in each element workshop as a way of creating balance and stability. Dragon & Toad: 23 & 24 October 2010The Dragon & Toad seminar is a progressive way to connect to and balance the Five Elements. Dragon uses expansive purifying movements which connect to Fire. The moving and static posture combination strengthens the Metal element and increases flow. The movements also clear the energy gates along the spine. Toad consists of low sinking movements which enhance the elements of Water and Wood. Combined with crouching static postures which strengthen Earth. Pricing: £150. Discounts available for booking this alongside the weekend workshop, please contact the College for further details. Venue:All workshops will be held at: London School of Capoeira Units 1 & 2, Leeds Place Tollington Park London N4 3RF Time: 10-5pm each day. VIEW INTENTION OF WORKSHOPS There are many approaches to Chi Kung and many different traditions. The intention in these workshops is to explore the connection to the Taoist Five Elements which commonly underpins most Chi Kung. The workshops include some theory of the elements but the emphasis is on the experience of each element. A variety of Chi Kung exercises and forms will be explored for each element in order to provide you with a way to make this connection. As you work through each element you will be able to understand the balance of all of the elements within you and use the forms to bring about a greater balance between all five elements. This will lead to higher states of health, stronger movement of chi, psycho-emotional stability and a greater harmony in your life. The overall aim of the workshops is to create a sense and understanding of the movement of Chi through and around your body in relationship to the five elements. It will also help you discover how you use your energy; clear physiological congestion and stagnant thought processes; quicken your energy; and create a more poised, effective and efficient you. Chi Kung is essentially creative and the workshops encourage individual self-expression within the movement and posture forms. Each workshop includes Chi Kung walking exercises that help balance and strengthen the elements within you. They are often practiced in a big group circle to create a greater movement of Chi. Chi Kung is essentially meditative. The movement forms exercise and calm the body allowing the mind to become stiller. During Chi Kung walking deep meditative states can be experienced. The workshops emphasise the internal/meditational aspect of Chi Kung and this can be particularly experienced through walking, standing and sitting postures. The workshops emphasise the use of whole body awareness and presence when carrying out the forms and postures leading to a discovery of the inner experience they produce. The workshops will be led by Thalbert Allen (Director) and Dan Brierley (Tutor) of the College of Elemental Chi Kung.
